The WFP has published a job vacancy announcement on 09th February 2023 for qualified South Africa’s to fill in the vacant post of Learning and Development Consultant to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

WFP Job Vacancy 2023

Job Purpose: The Regional Bureau (RBJ) is based in Johannesburg and supports operations across 12 countries in Southern Africa and Indian Ocean States (Malawi, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Tanzania, Lesotho, ESwatini, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Angola). The region encompasses approximately 1,500 employees across 12 countries providing assistance to approximately 4 million people per month through the provision of vital life-saving food assistance using food distribution or cash-based transfers, school meals, malnutrition prevention and nutrition treatment activities, as well as asset creation and livelihood support.

Eligibility Criteria


  • University degree in Human Resources, Organizational Design and Development, Learning and Development or a related field or another degree with directly relevant work experience.


  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in working across all phases of learning design, development and delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience as an HR specialist, understanding the complexities of the HR function and the wide range of responsibilities including talent acquisition, performance management, learning and development, succession planning etc.
  • Experience in working for an international organization.
  • Work experience in the UN System is desirable

Knowledge & Skills:

  • In-depth expertise and application of models of learning design / adult learning theory; learning needs analysis methodologies, learning evaluation methods.
  • Strong stakeholder and client relationship skills. Ability to quickly build knowledge and understanding of functional/organizational strategy and translate to learning requirements of employees.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time and accomplish tasks with follow-through to completion.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence internally with various stakeholders and subject matter experts across business functions, levels and geographical areas.
  • Strong creative problems solving skills; agile, flexible and patient; ability to work with ambiguity, constructive approach to overcoming challenges and build consensus across diverse and global teams.


  • Excellent knowledge of English. Good working knowledge of a second UN language preferably French, Spanish or Arabic is desirable.
