The UNDP has published a job vacancy announcement on 13th February 2023 for qualified South Sudanese to fill in the vacant post of Re-integration Specialist to be based in Juba, South Sudan.

UNDP Job Vacancy 2023

Position Purpose: Provide technical and advisory support towards reintegration of former combatants, and special needs groups. Provide technical and Advisory support towards voluntary civilian disarmament; reintegration of disarmed youth and groups and stockpile management of collected arms. Strengthen synergy, collaboration, and due diligence in the implementation of the various community violence reduction approaches by different actors.

Eligibility Criteria

Education:

  • Master’s degree in economics, political science, sociology, international relations, anthropology, public administration, development studies or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2 additional years of qualifying experience in relevant field may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years (Master’s degree) or 7 years (Bachelor’s degree) of operational and managerial experience working with projects and programmes related to disarmament, arms control, mine action, armed violence prevention or DDR, including relevant field experience, especially in reintegration and crisis or post-conflict settings is required.
  • Experience working in post-conflict setting – ideally, in a situation of demobilization, return and reintegration of ex-combatants as well as community disarmament is an asset.
  • Experience in working with conflict victims, people with disability, socially excluded groups is an asset.
  • Experience working in remote areas, Preference will be given to candidates with a wide experience in UN/ UNDP field operations is an asset.
  • Extensive experience of providing policy advice (including report writing) at international level is an asset.
  • Experience in capacity building with local/national organizations is an asset.

Language:

  • Proficiency in oral and written English is required.
  • Proficiency in oral and written Arabic is an asset.
